From Salut les copains to Paris Match, Daniel Filipacchi, a very discrete and mysterious person until now, reveals for the first time his “manual” for life. Like his life, Filipacchi’s story is both reserved and insolent, wise and comic and written in a direct and unique style.

“At Paris Match, I did everything imaginable, except sweeping the floors and washing the windows. I did layout, headed the news office, occasionally directed the photo department, I was a photographer, reporter, copyeditor, archivist, errand runner… I also did various administrative tasks. In the beginning, I joined the company as a photographer by total chance. I had just turned twenty and it was January 1948…”
