In 2007, Nadia is sent a picture of her grandfather, officer in the Wehrmacht. Humiliated, disliked, disparaged, Nadia’s mother was one of 200 000 children born out of scorned upon liaisons between a French woman and a German soldier. Daughter of a Kraut. This makes Nadia a Kraut’s granddaughter, and as she embarks upon a search for her family, for Hans, this grandfather who she dreams of, and fears, imagining her grandparents’s story, she delves deep within into her own heart.
